Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) is effective as of October 7, 2026 (the “Effective Date”). It describes how Novela Law Firm, P.A. (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares information through the website located at novelalaw.com (the “Site”).
1. Scope
This Policy applies to the Site and to our email newsletter. It does not apply to information we receive in the course of representing a client, which is governed by our engagement agreement with that client and the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, or to information you send us about a legal matter before we have agreed to represent you, which is addressed in the Terms of Use posted on the Site. It does not apply to any other website, including alevon.com and novelawatch.com, which are operated by separate companies.
2. Information We Collect
(a) Information you provide. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you provide them, your first and last name.
(b) Newsletter activity. Our email service provider records whether you open our newsletters and which links you click.
(c) Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, the servers that host and deliver the Site automatically record standard technical information, such as your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you request and the date and time of each request. If you accept analytics as described in Section 4, our analytics provider collects similar information, together with the pages you view, the links you click and the website that referred you to the Site.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described in Section 2 to (a) send our newsletter to subscribers, (b) understand how the Site and our newsletter are used, (c) operate, secure and improve the Site, and (d) comply with law and our professional obligations.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
(a) Your choice. When you first visit the Site, a banner asks whether you accept cookies and similar technologies that are not strictly necessary. The Site is set up so that those technologies do not load unless you accept them. You may change your choice at any time by selecting “Cookie Settings” in the footer of the Site.
(b) Strictly necessary. We store a record of your cookie choice in your browser so that the Site remembers it. The Site may also use cookies that are needed for it to operate securely.
(c) Analytics. If you accept analytics, we use Jetpack Stats, a service of Automattic Inc., to understand how visitors use the Site. Automattic receives your IP address, information about your browser and device and the pages you view.
(d) Embedded content. Some pages of the Site include videos hosted by YouTube and a map provided by Google Maps, both services of Google LLC. The Site is set up to load this content only if you accept it. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, and Google’s use of that information is governed by Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. How We Share Information
We share information with service providers that help us operate the Site and send our newsletter. They include our website host and content delivery providers, our email service provider (Mailchimp, an Intuit company, whose privacy statement is at www.intuit.com/privacy/statement) and, if you accept them, the analytics and content providers described in Section 4. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or to a successor to our practice. We do not sell the information we hold about you, and we do not give it to third parties for their own marketing.
6. Your Choices
(a) Newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the link at the bottom of any newsletter or by emailing dnovela@novelalaw.com.
(b) Cookies. You may change your cookie choice at any time as described in Section 4(a).
(c) Your information. You may ask us to update or delete the information you gave us through the Site by emailing dnovela@novelalaw.com.
(d) Do Not Track. The Site is set up so that analytics and embedded content do not load unless you accept them, so it does not respond differently when a browser sends a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. If you accept analytics or embedded content, the providers described in Section 4 may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites.
7. Security
No website or email transmission is completely secure. We use reasonable measures to protect information collected through the Site, but we cannot guarantee its security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on the Site and revise the Effective Date. The updated Policy applies from the date it is posted.
